Chu and Dennis at the Victoria Peak May 2004 Posted by Hello

Hong Kong - May 2004

Chu and I were happily married and staying in my Kim Keat home blissfully for 4 months when I brought her to Hong Kong on a business trip in May 2004.
We stayed at Shatin Riverside Hotel as the hotels in the city were fully occuppied by Chinese tourists, so I was told. We had a fantastic time together mostly taking the MTR train from station to station and window shopping. Whenever we were hungry we would just pop into any mum and dad coffee shop and have our meals. We were on budget and could not afford the better restaurants. Even then we did enjoy the famous yum cha restaurant where we indulged in tim sum and Chu was pleased she has tasted the authentic food she loves so much.
We have seen the better parts of Hong Kong by signing up for a day tour. We were brought to Aberdeen Harbour where we boarded a sampan and sailed amongst the boat people who lives in their wooden sampans anchored off the harbour. The famous Jumbo Floating Restaurant was so appealling urging us to patron it, but no not on this trip. We visited the jewellery factory and bought some interesting souvenirs to bring home. Victoria Peak was very cooling and misty the morning we went up and we took some sceneries of Hong Kong city. The most interesting and enjoyable walk was along the Mongkok and Tsim Tsa Tsui district where they are so many things to see with so many shops lining the streets. The night market at the Ladies and Men Street was so crowded, here you can find all the cheap fashion and clothes imported from mainland China.
After spending 5 days in Hong Kong it was time to head home.
We were to get a shock at the Changi Airport when Chu was not given a permit to enter Singapore. As she was still on a visitor's pass she has to exit back to Cebu. After pleading with the immigration officer she was granted a day to pack her things.
The day she left for Cebu was a very sad day. She cried and I felt for her. I promised that I will do whatever it takes to get her application for PR approved. In anguish I bade her goodbye and promised to visit her whenever time permits.
