Day 2 - Leaving for Siargao Island by overnight ferry

On the second day Chu and I make our way to Pier 1, at the North Reclaimation Zone in Cebu City harbour, to get our tickets for the overnight ferry to Siargao Island. We can also fly there but the air-ticket for a propeller driven plane would cost one hundred twenty Singapore dollars for a 45 minutes flight. It is very expensive compare to the ferry fare. The ferry ticket would cost only fourteen dollars for an economy class bed and you get to share the crowded top deck of the ferry with 100+ local passengers if you don't mind their noisy chatter and manners. For six dollars more you could upgrade to tourist class, which means you get a cleaner and well spaced deck with air-conditioning. There is nothing much to do on the ferry other than eating and drinking beer at the canteen. So we slept all the way there. The ferry left Cebu at 8 pm and arrived at 5 am the next morning in Surigao City where a fast pump boat ferried us on the last leg to Siargao Island.

This is on the beach of Siargao Island when we arrived at 6 a.m.
